UCLA’S GRADUATE SCHOOL OF EDUCATION AND INFORMATION STUDIES TO HOST SUMMIT ON 21st CENTURY LITERACIES WHAT: The Graduate School of Education and Information Studies at UCLA, in conjunction with Pacific Bell, will host an all-day summit on 21st- century literacies. Scholars and business and political leaders will share information and perspectives on the developments that are driving the information explosion and analyze the implications for literacy of the information age. WHERE: UCLA’s Ackerman Grand Ballroom, 308 Westwood Plaza. BACKGROUND: The summit serves as the kick-off for the Pacific Bell/UCLA Initiative for 21st Century Literacies. The two-year project, the outcome of a $1 million gift from Pacific Bell to UCLA’s Graduate School of Education and Information Studies, will evaluate the meaning of literacy in an age characterized by rapidly changing technologies, an abundance of new and unfiltered information, and increasing diversity.
